Yan Tsz Ki, a Class 4A student from our school, recently participated in the territory-wide secondary school creative competition "Chit-Chat & Delivering Happiness through Letters," organized by the Benevolent Wishes Association. With her warm and moving letter, she stood out among the contestants and proudly earned the Merit Award.
The competition encourages students to write letters to elderly residents in residential care homes. By sharing their own daily routines and the subtle beauties of life, students use words to convey care and encouragement, guiding the elderly to face life with a positive and optimistic mindset while recognizing the happiness hidden within the ordinary everyday. With her sincere and delicate prose, Yan Tsz Ki recorded life’s small anecdotes, filling her lines with tenderness to bring comfort and hope to the residents. Her work beautifully exemplifies the fine virtues of respecting and caring for the elderly.
A modest letter carries boundless goodwill. This award not only recognizes Yan Tsz Ki’s solid Chinese writing skills, but also reflects her outstanding qualities of empathy and a genuine willingness to care for others. The school extends its heartiest congratulations to Yan Tsz Ki. We hope all students will look to her as an example, making good use of words to spread warmth, paying closer attention to the small yet precious blessings around them, and frequently expressing care and greetings to the elderly.
