Application for Discretionary Places (DP) for Admission to Secondary 1 in 2025/26

  1. Number of places for DP: 40
  2. Application Period: 2 January 2025 to 16 January 2025

[Office hours: 9:00 – 12:15, 14:00 – 16:00 (Monday – Friday), 9:00 – 12:15 (Saturday),

Close on Sundays and Public Holidays]

  1. The completed application form should be submitted to the school office (1/F, Concordia Lutheran School, 12 Tai Hang Tung Road, Kowloon) IN PERSON during the above application period. 

Documents to be submitted include:

  • A completed Application Form;
  • Complete EDB Application Form for S1 Discretionary Places; (The application form must be submitted together, please do not submit separately)
  • Copies of Primary 5 and 6 school reports;
  • A copy of the student’s Hong Kong Identity Card;
  • Two self-addressed envelopes (4”x9”) with $2.2 postage; (Please write down student’s full name and mailing address on the envelopes.)

(For Application BY POST, THREE self-addressed envelopes (4”x9”) with $2.2 postage are required.)

  • Copies of supporting documents and certificates of participation and performance in extra-curricular activities and services (Recommendation Letters or Reference Letters are NOT to be submitted.)
  1. Interviews and Admission Criteria
  1. Arrangements for interviews: Interviews will be arranged for all applicants. The tentative date for interviews is 15 February 2025. Details will be informed to parents by post.
  2. Details of interviews:    Languages: English and Cantonese

                                            Format: individual and / or group discussion

  1. Admission Criteria:      Conduct grade must be Grade B or above

                                                Academic Achievements and EDB Rank Order (70%)

                                                Performance in Interview (20%)

                                                Extra-Curricular Activities and Services (10%)

*Bonus marks will be given to applicants who have outstanding performance in academic, sports, music and/or art.

 

  1. Parents of successful discretionary places applicants will be notified by mail and by phone of their children’s inclusion in the Successful Lists for Discretionary Places on 31 March 2025.
  2. The results of Secondary One Discretionary Places and Secondary School Places Central Allocation will be released on 8th July 2025 by EDB. Please note that applicants will not be notified individually of their results by our school.
  3. In accordance with the EDB guidelines for Discretionary Places scheme, each applicant can only apply for no more than two secondary schools under the scheme. Applicants who fail to comply will be disqualified in the application under the scheme.
  4. Unsuccessful applicants will continue the Secondary School Places Allocation through Central Allocation (CA). The allocation of CA will not be affected by the results of DP.
  1. The personal data of unsuccessful applicants will not be retained and will be disposed of after the release of the allocation by EDB
