Sham Shui Po Community Tour Deepens Students Understanding of Local Heritage
9 Jul 2026

Our school recently organised a Sham Shui Po Community Tour for thirty three Secondary Four students, held on the morning of 9 July 2026 for one and a half hours. The tour began at the Nam Cheong Community Centre, passing through the public rest garden on Pak Hok Street, the former site of the Sham Shui Po Ferry Pier, the tenement building housing Yat Ping Mirror Factory, a Grade Two historic building, and the public rest garden on Kweilin Street, the former site of New Asia College, before concluding at the DX Design Hub. Students learned about the historical development and cultural conservation of Sham Shui Po along the route, gaining insight into the relationship between old district architecture and community change. The activity deepened students understanding of local history and culture through community based fieldwork, while fostering civic awareness and care for the community.
